Norwest Manufacturing Inc. is a national distributor and manufacturer of agricultural equipment and ground engaging tools used in the aftermarket replacement industry. Its products are sold all over the United States and Canada. Norwest specializes in potato and sugar beet cultivation and harvest tools, but also is involved in most all types of row crop cultivation practices. Norwest also has strong supplies of parts used in hay, grain, and bean applications. The company is located in the very center of the potato growing region in Rupert, Idaho. Idaho has been a leader in the potato markets for many decades.
Norwest is the major supplier to the “Rolled Eye Flail Blade” market to both equipment dealers and original equipment manufacturers. Rolled Eye Flails are made from 5160 steel and heat treated to a 38 to 44 Rockwell hardness. Along with flails Norwest makes a variety of three point attachment, pivot track fillers and much more.
Joe and Carman Carter purchased Norwest Manufacturing in 2022. Both Joe and Carman were born and raised right here in Rupert Idaho and have another agricultural business just around the corner that has been in our family for the last 32 years. We understand what your agricultural business needs are. Originally founded by Phil and Karen Gilley in 1997 we continue to run this family-owned business just as it is. Our longstanding and highly knowledgeable team is here to help in any way we can.
The company has grown to over 30 employees with 31,000 square feet of buildings. The company performs with two CNC Plasma Cutting machines, CNC vertical mill, Robotic Welding and 4 to 6 full time welders. The company also performs forging and heat treating for both their parts as well as outside customers.
In 2006 Norwest purchased the Ag Division of Acme Manufacturing in Filer Idaho. With this investment the company stands strong and complete to face the Agricultural Markets and their needs. Norwest’s main market consists of the entire Pacific Northwest but has strong footing in every potato and sugar beet growing regions of North America. With these strengths Norwest plans to increase their branding of current and new products in the future.
